Bug Description

Hi,

a Lumia 535 (RM-1089) Windows Phone connected via USB to a notebook running Ubuntu 15.10 will be detected, but Ubuntu's file manager shows no content even though there are directories and many files (e.g. pictures) stored on the smartphone.

Installing the mtpfs package didn't change anything. The directories and files are accessible on Windows 7 (tested!).

Curiously, the mtp-detect tool doesn't find any MTP devices.

:~$ sudo mtp-detect
Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.
libmtp version: 1.1.8

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.3 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
