[SRU Justification]
This feature provides the latest core and nest PMU events which it comes with the skiboot on Power P9 Arch.

Those patches are available on mainline kernel tree in tags/powerpc-4.14-1~314 .

The commit is a clean cherry pick in Artful.

[Testcase]
1 - Verify if the perf has the PMU events available via the latest version of skiboot.
# perf list | grep core_imc
# perf list | grep nest_
# perf list | grep thread_imc

2 - Test couple of them like that:
# ./perf stat -e nest_mcs0/PM_MCS_UP_128B_DATA_XFER_MC2/ -a -A sleep 5

This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-artful' to 'verification-done-artful'. If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

This is just a clarification on test support matrix to test Ubuntu distro on P9.

As per my understanding, Power9 support officially will be there from Ubuntu 18.04 onwards. Test is committed to validate this P9 Nest PMU feature only on Ubuntu 18.04 at this point. Test team is not testing any of the P9 features on earlier releases of Ubuntu(artful or zesty or xenial SRU builds).
