Bug Description

With my Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 4.0), I'm not able to send or receive any data on this wired connection. Selecting 3.13.0-57 at boot time makes it work again. Networking in general seems to work as I was able to pair with an iphone over bluetooth and send this bug report out.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream stable kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.13 stable kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

The page I was referred to contains the BIOS images for revision 1.0 of this motherboard. The actual motherboard is rev 4.0. As far as I can tell the BIOS does not contain the revision information for the motherboard. The only way of getting the revision number was to examine the revision number printed on the motherboard.

The most current version of the this BIOS for rev 4.0 of this motherboard is is F3, the version being run was F3i (released on 10/07/2014). I upgraded the BIOS to F3 from F3i. The graphical login is visible, but Ubuntu no longer recognizes any of the USB ports nor does it recognize the NIC. This happens even when I boot to kernel version 3.13.0-57.

As I'm not able to get the keyboard to work I can't login. I can't ssh in because the NIC does not work.

I will try and revert to the previous BIOS version.

Sean McCauliff, could you please test for this via http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise to the results?
