Bug Description

Hi,

I've installed Ubuntu 15.4 on an Asus X302LJ laptop it everything is working fine except that the touch pad is not recognized. Unfortunately I was not able to obtain the model of the touch pad, but I'm going to attach the following files:

dmesg > ~/dmesg
cat /proc/bus/input/devices > ~/devices
/var/log/Xorg.0.log
sudo lshw > ~/lshw

I have already tried a couple of things to solve the problem, but none of the following helped:
1. Installed http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.1-rc2-vivid/
2. Tried to add kernel parameter psmouse.proto=bare

Thanks,
Gabor

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.1 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Hi Joseph,

I've tested both with v4.1-rc2-vivid and v4.1-unstable but the bug still exits.

Thanks,
Gabor

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for your reply. I've updated the BIOS version to the newest one, according to the command that you have provided, it was successful.

$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
X302LJ.203
04/20/2015

Unfortunately it seems that it haven't changed anything. The touchpad is still not detected and can't see any relevant changes in the output of lshw or dmesg.

Thanks,
Gabor
