Bug Description

Configuration of myconp is: Int Core@Duo 2.66/ASUS P5K SE/HHD Western Digital 250GB/HDD Seagate 320Gb/CD-RW-DVD-rom IDE Toshiba/DVD-RW IDE TEak

when i try to "START OR INSTALL KUBUNTU" (Or all over Linux distributive) after time on black screen it starts to wright^
[xxxxxxxx] Buffer I/O error on device fd0, logical block0
where xxxxx- is a number . It's wrighting 15-20 lines after them it's waiting for reboot/

when i try to "INSTALL KUBUNTU" on hard drive after inspecting devices it wrights, that couldn't found cd-rom (although it was booted from CD-rom) and invites me to boot drivers for CD-rom from disk or choose specific driver. No one ofspecific drivers doesn't works.

it seems to me, that after booting Kernel cd-roms losts. it may caused that ASUS P5K series has MARVELL IDE drivers, that distributives of Linux not supports.

I can confirm this problem.

When trying to install alternative or live cd, the cd rom is not found. IDE or USB. I have tried Ubuntu 7.04 , 7.10 and Fedora 8 DVD.

I have tried netinstall for 7.04 and 7.10 but the NIC on motherboard does not work, any other PCI NICs do not get IP address connected even though DHCP server says it already has served an IP to the NIC (tracing using MAC to be sure).

I found solution of this problem in openSUSE 10.3 and Kubuntu 7.10.
Problems caused by Marvell's drivers for IDE controller. in Last versions of openSUSE and Kubuntu it's soluted.

I had to post this somewhere. After screwing with damn near every distribution I could find and failing on every one for various reasons I discovered that my shit USB card reader was to blame for almost every issue I have been having. I haven't been able to I stall any distribution and after disconnecting the card reader I can now I stall whatever I want. Hope this helps someone.
