Hi Endolith

The echo firmware is part of the alsa-firmware package (check the package details)
and it isn't in the multiverse because (Quoting medibuntu) "Medibuntu (Multimedia, Entertainment & Distractions In Ubuntu) is a repository of packages that cannot be included into the Ubuntu distribution for legal reasons (copyright, license, patent, etc). "

There are some licenses issues for echo that prevent it from being in multiverse.

You can always uninstall the alsa-firmware if you find that it does not resolve your issue.

Bill.

I don't see anything on that site about Echo.  Even if the firmware is
non-free, shouldn't it be in multiverse?
