No wireless access for BCM 43162

No connectivity on 14.04.2 for Lenovo Edge E555 using a BCM43162 wireless adapter.

Here is what I got with lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 net

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.0 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

It was a fresh install. I have tried kernel 3.19 but not 4.0, and I still do not have connectivity. Can I update the kernel via chroot for a LiveCD?

I've confirmed this is the case. Tried everything I could find on various forums, but the drivers in wl (and other related packages) do not provide connectivity with this chipset.

@Ryan Thanks, glad I'm not the only one whos getting this. It is a fairly new Lenovo model with a new BCM chip so I kind already know that the drivers for it are not ready....

Ryan, wl is not the correct package for this issue.

Support is to come from the linux kernel (open source), and via the bcmwl driver (proprietary) as upstream decides.
