Bug Description
ubuntu@P8:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
Release: 14.04
After installing Ubuntu 14.04 onto an IBM Power8 using bare metal mode, the installation will not boot unless setting a rootdelay timeout as a kernel flag.
The following error occurs at boot otherwise:
Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
- Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
- Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
- Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
- Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! /dev/disk/
A setting of rootdelay=190 seems to work whereas 90 was not long enough.
