Bug Description

I've a X220 in 14.04 with a docking station connected to an external monitor. Undocking my notebook darkens the notebook screen.

WORKAROUND: Docking it again gives normal brightness and "undocking" again gives again regular brightness.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.17 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I tested "Linux aknoteb 3.17.0-031700rc7-generic #201409281835 SMP Sun Sep 28 22:36:30 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux"

I've done several tests and they all show that the reported behaviour does not exists on the above kernel. Is this kernel going to be published for 14.04 and if yes when?

Akif D., the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect the kernel in order to identify the offending commit. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ?
