Bug Description

When typing, frequently the cursor will jump to the last application icon in the launch bar. This is happening even though the touch pad is not touched. Also mouse settings have "disable touchpad when typing" enabled.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.17 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Chris,

This issue is still occurring with upstream kernel.

Chris,

I do not know if this occurred with a prior release (<14.04). I just
purchased Dell Inspirion 5547 and loaded Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on it. I
never loaded an earlier version of Ubuntu on it.

Thanks,

Phil

Chris,

I have collected all information as per requested kernel format. My one
problem is I do not know who to send information too? I looked through
the complete maintainer list and did not know who to send information I
collected too. Would you have a suggestion?

Thanks,

Phil M.

w2vy, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with the Ubuntu repository kernel (not mainline/upstream) via a terminal:
