Bug Description

Since 12.04 32bit, the driver (sky2) for Marvell 88E8055 PCI-E GbE isn't functioning well as HWaddr 00:00:00:00:00:00. With a manual setting using 'ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:01:xx:xx:xx:xx' or 'ip link set eth0 addr 00:01:xx:xx:xx:xx' (numbers hidden) the device can be working. When I move to 14.04 64bit, this old trick doesn't work. Although one can still set the hw address and the LED blinks, no packet is transferred as seen with ifconfig. Now I run with 14.04 32bit live iso, the old trick works.
