Bug Description

I have Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter [168c:0032] (rev 01) on Acer TM B113-E notebook.

When I use ath9k with 3.11 kernel then all works fine. WiFi and Bluetooth works as well.
I have problem with bluetooth when install some later kernels(I'm test 3.15rc1 and (3.13 or 3.14)) from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
After this installation I have not bluetooth device! When I switch Wi-Fi by acpi key, I can switch only Wi-Fi to on or off state(I saw status by "rfkill list"). Bluetooth device will not reconize for me...
But if I will power off notebook and disconnect battery, then after power on I'm get working Bluetooth.

I could not pay attention to this troubles but now we have Ubuntu 14.04(I tested on Kubuntu 14.04).
After installed Kubuntu 14.04 I have working only Wi-Fi. Power off+disconnect battery and other probes(such as I probe to install non-free firmware) do not have results. System do not recognize BT device... I can not see this device in rfkill list and in KDE's System Settings->Bluetooth...
In 3.11 kernel and later kernel I have problem with bluetooth after sleeping too. Module do not start after resume. I wrote script with manual starting of btusb module and get working BT after resume.

My bluetooth device as per sudo cat /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices :

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.15 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Nothing changes. I think this is not kernel's problem. May be my BT device do not recognized because upstart-udev and systemd-udev psrts conflicts. How do you think?

Now I have this logs:
dmesg | grep -i blue
[ 5.530076] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.19
[ 5.530119] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized
[ 5.530129] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized

[ 5.568256] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized
[ 5.568265] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11
And I can see nothing about device...(((

In 13.10 I must manualy use btusb(if it do not loaded after resume) module to work BT. Now this module do not used by default:
#lsmod | grep blue
bluetooth 465597 10 bnep,rfcomm
6lowpan_iphc 18968 1 bluetooth
# modprobe btusb
# lsmod | grep blue
bluetooth 465597 11 bnep,btusb,rfcomm
6lowpan_iphc 18968 1 bluetooth

But after manual module loading nothing changes...(((

I have good news for me with this device on 14.04.
It works at now. But this will start after some movings of notebook's hardware.
I changed Atheros chip to Ralink 3189 chip(this chip do not works with Wi-Fi on later kernels with NetworkManager, but BT was recognized). After this I returned Atheros chip to notebook and my BT device stay available in system. I don't know how to long it will be available, I do not reboot it now. If I will get news then I will post information...

I aerly tested 3.11 kernel in 14.04 and BT did not work.
But from now I may be can not to truly test, because after inserting Ralink card I have working Atheros BT. If I will have troubles with BT in future then I test older kernels...
In old times when I install 14.04 then after restore 13.10, my BT do not work while I deattach my battery.
With 14.04 this method do not work and only after reinstall another card, I can see BT...

Because after using BT mouse WiFi began drop packets and while I use inet conections interface sometimes drops and I must it enable manual...
After some testings I return to 13.10.
But when I return to 13.10, I get problems with wifi interface. It swith out after less 1 min after upping. And Kwallet asks me enter password of WIFI access point.

Problem persist and IMHO this is problem in behavior Ubuntu with ACPI.
I created a copy of installed 14.04 and will test it after left some time (near ones at month). I will report to this topic.

This problem returns to my notebook again, when I upgrade to Kubuntu 16.04 with KDE5
In older systems I can use BT only if acer_wmi module was blacklisted
Now it can works only if this module enabled. ))) with blacklisted module I have no any solutions.
But...
1. After reboot I have only WiFi every time. After sleeping BT is lost too.

2. Sometimes if I switch to BT(WiFi) On or Off by ACPI key then BT drops and I can not see it by
rfkill list

3. After some switches by ACPI key 'rfkill list' shows me BT & WiFi is on, but WiFi do not work.

4. Only netbook's poweroff and unsupply battery helps me returns to 1 position.

5. Adter some switching by ACPI Key if BT switched to On, then rfkill list shows new idx of BT device:
At first time it shows like:
...
4: hci0: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no

On new loop of switching it shows like:
...
5: hci0: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
...
etc
But BT do not work.

6. If I do not unsupply battery then I can not get working BT and WiFi in any way.

7. I probe to use systemd-rfkill.service but it did not helps me...

Have new small solution. With it I can work, but problem still present.
1. I need "blacklist acer_wmi" in modprobe.conf )))
2. I need "options ath9k btcoex_enable=1" in modprobe.conf
It works better then early. But I can not get WiFi after sleeping. But after reboot I get BT & WiFi working. This is better then nothing.
After sleeping rfkill says about all is on, but WiFi do not up...

Adter this, in BIOS I have no BT device(!), Only WiFi. I think ACPI module send some information to hardware which switch off it and BIOS can not recognize BT HW...
Only poweroff and battery off saves me. After inserting battery I go to BIOS and can see BT device enabled.

Now I can not resolve this problem.
I use another Wi-Fi+BT card.

But may be my story will be usefull for future work with problem.
I have Acer TM B113-E which complected with Broadcom Corporation BCM43228 Wi-Fi+BT card.
With older kernels(3.11) it works fine. But when I began upgrade kernel, this card works unstable(with Cisco wi-fi routers I have a lot of broken connections, some times connection was droped on another routers too). I purchase Atheros AR9485 and successfully use it until have upgrade to 14.04.
With new OS I can not set up BT to work fine. I probe all methods, but nothing helps me.
If I remember, I put hands down and insert original BCM43228. I did not setup it too and reinsert AR9485. After this series of reinserting Atheros card began works fine!
I think Broadcom card may be wrote some information to BIOS ACPI (or other part of BIOS) and new card began work without troubles.

I probe this method now. But I can not resolve my problem by this manual.
Now I use Broadcom card, which works some stable, but has slow speed(near 1Mb/s). Atheros card had 2.5Mb/s speed on this router. After advanced setuping of my home router, I had increase of speed to 1.5-1.9Mb/s on it.
