Repeated problems with Updatre Manager - apt-get - dpkg.

Appear to stem from a file perl5/Debconf/DbDriver.pm which contains the errorneous line "use base 1.01 # ensure that they don't have a broken perl installation". Ironic, eh?

I tried various other things after "use base" (there should be a package name, right?) but they didn't work.

You may need to run the following:

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then re-install the package.

(1) However, it did not resolve the issue
* install -f failed
* clean appeared to do nothing
* update downloaded kernel image version 60
* install -f (again) again failed:
I get error messages as before, including

(2) Bug on bugs.launchpad.net (!)

Failed to update bug to Confirmed: a load of HTML/JavaScript appeared on
the pop-up (in red) after I clicked on Confirmed. When I clicked on OK,
the pop-up vanished but the bug was still Incomplete.

Failed to post the above on bugs.launchpad.net - the same pop-up
appeared (labelled Error)
