Bug Description
Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22
Many Thin Clients still only have oss supported sound hardware. With the switch to 2.6.22 ubuntu stopped building oss device drivers. In LTSP we have a mechanism to manually enable such drivers per client so they can be blacklisted by default in the package and should do no harm this way but still leave Thin Client users the opportunity to use them with following a howto.

I understand this as a request to make OSS be compiled as a module for the current kernel, and made blacklisted by default (to avoid bother people who use ALSA).
Don't even know, as a bug triager, if OSS can be compiled as a module.
I also wonder what is that hardware that is supported by OSS without being supported by ALSA.
But I guess a kernel developer would know all this, so I am setting this bug as Confirmed.
