Bug Description

My laptop touchpad stopped working after a kernel upgrade 2 days ago, it worked correctly before that. I didn't find any shortcut to enable/disable it, and since it's a chromebook, it has a coreboot BIOS -> www.coreboot.org . Also, the touchpad works when I boot on ChromeOS. My mouse still works. I use Ubuntu 13.10 with kernel 3.11.0-15-generic.

Does this issue go away if you boot into the previous kernel version?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.13 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I removed the former kernel to save space and I don't remember what was its version, I tried previous kernel versions (3.11.0-[12,13,14,15]-generic) and my touchpad doesn't work with any of them.

I also tried the latest v3.13 kernel, which does not solve the problem

Levasseur Carl, the next step is to fully commit bisect between the latest working and non-working kernel in order to identify the offending commit. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?
