Bug Description

In 13.04, hibernation and resuming worked fine. In 13.10, running sudo pm-hibernate seems to put the laptop into hibernation, but upon powering it on again, a normal boot process is initiated.

Run "apport-collect 1257400" to attach some useful logs here. Specifically for Hibernate issues the following will be needed: dmesg, cat /proc/cmdline, and cat /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume. After you have posted the required information, set the status back to new.

Thank you, Christopher. I updated the BIOS and the output of the listed commands shows the following:

G2ET97WW (2.57 )
10/25/2013

Unfortunately, hibernation still doesn't work: suspending works fine, and running sudo pm-hibernate seems to put the laptop to sleep correctly, but after powering it on again, a disk check is performed and the previos session is not restored.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It is currently a known issue that Hibernation will fail to resume due to an encrypted swap. Please refer to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EncryptedHome for more information. We will tag this bug "encrypted-swap" so that we can track this issue going forward and possibly request additional testing. Thanks in advance for your patience and cooperation.
