Due to the fact that the error occurs before booting the kernel, I cannot create an apport.

I have added the crash output to the initial report.

Can you see if this issue also happens with the latest Trusty daily image:

Saucy

--> Same crash behaviour as describe in bug report (expected)

Trusty

--> Boots fine
       - reported graphics is Intel Haswell Mobile instead of Nvidia GTX765M

Lode, given you may boot in 14.04, would this work for you, or would you need a backport to a release prior to Trusty?

I was wondering if there were any updates on this, I have exactly the same issue...
Trusty booted fine.

However I don't think running trusty for myself is a good idea...

For those reading, the only solution is installing the latest developement trusty.
Good luck.

I know this is an expired thread but I have the same problem and as a workaround it is possible to boot with kernel argument "modprobe.blacklist=nouveau" the installer will start as well as the live cd function. I will also try to do a full install and reboot.
