Bug Description

Glancing at dmesg, i'm testing that boot parameter, but got surprised about the result:

[ 0.000000] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-11-generic root=UUID=9e61e83e-bca9-43cf-aa90-5a68892213fa ro crashkernel=384M-2G:64M,2G-:128M cgroup_disable=memory
[ 0.000000] Disabling memory control group subsystem

so it seems working; but later i'm seeing:

[ 0.008534] Initializing cgroup subsys memory
[ 0.008590] Initializing cgroup subsys devices
[ 0.008636] Initializing cgroup subsys freezer
[ 0.008682] Initializing cgroup subsys blkio
[ 0.008728] Initializing cgroup subsys perf_event
[ 0.008776] Initializing cgroup subsys hugetlb

thats making me confused; i was beleiving that all these processes been replaced by zram process inside the recent kernels. Am i wrong ?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.12 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

@Joseph

here is the upstream testing results:

- 3.12-rc4 is missing the linux-headers....all.deb package, so have tested 3.12-rc3 instead
- 3.12-rc3 still have the same issue : look at dmesg.0
- 3.12-rc3 also have an issue with "nouveau" : it loads nicely, but after having opened "Files" to check the logs, i've got a hard lock (everything is frozen, and need a power reset); the details are inside Xorg.0.log.old

The 3.12 final kernel is now available. Can you test this kernel to see if the bug still exists in mainline:
