Bug Description

Hi
I can't get speed setting of the touchpad to be stored anything than precise half way between slow and fast.
Maybe this could help to move the cursor from far left to far right (and vice et versa) in a single finger movement.
At this time I have to make a very violent movement that drives my finger out of the touchpad limit to reach this goal. An other way to cross the screen is to make several (3) normal movements, which is ... say borring.

Raring 3.8.0-31-generic x86_64 running in A09 BIOS mode

Thank you

Joseph Salisbury (jsalisbury) wrote : Re: L322X Dell xps13 touchpad too slow to cross the screen (horizontal)

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.12 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Hi Christopher
I reached to get time to flash to A10 Bios.
I still can't set speed or resolution (I don't know the underlying techno/language used for touchpad devices), but now, like with A09, the speed control is available in the Settings Center and I can't see it memorized/stored when I come back to Mouse/TouchPad settings the same way the other touchpad controls show they are stored, ie the check boxes keep the setting I do, but the "Cursor speed" always reverts to the central position. I thought of a relative drawing, but although I tried several times, I can't feel the speed change.
Also, maybe I miss something in the use of the "Test your settings" button: is there a way therein to validate the settings (some OK button?) and I'm not sure how to use the little girly and cartoon characters and objects.
Sorry if I seem puzzled.
As I tested with upstream kernel, should I remove the "needs-upstream-testing" tag?

The output you asked:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
A10

Bib, did this problem not occur in a release prior to Raring?

Hi Chris, I can't remember I noticed this in the genuine Precise Pangolin the L322X was supplied with, and I didn't try QQ before I fresh installed RR. I asked in some forums topic where mainly L322X owners are involved, but I got no feedback.
Maybe could you direct me to the live iso I could install in a USB stick to give a try. I ask you this because the L322X was supplied with a tweaked PP (the sputnik project thing I believe).
Thank you

Bib, for regression testing purposes, could you please test Quantal via http://releases.ubuntu.com/quantal/ and advise to the results?
