2007-07-05 08:36:05 Dan Walker description Hi This issue has been discussed over at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=447474, and seems to affect a number of us. File copy speed is very slow (roughly 5-10MBps) on SATA drives using this Intel chipset (and possibly others). Copying within the same physical drive is just as slow as copying to another physical drive. The issue occurs with GUI tools (Nautilus, Krusader) as well as at the terminal using the CP command. This has occured since upgrading to Feisty; Edgy was fine. Hi This issue has been discussed over at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=447474, and seems to affect a number of us. 2008-08-11 18:52:47 Leann Ogasawara linux-source-2.6.24: statusexplanation Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle the kernel source package naming convention changed from "linux-source-2.6.xx" to just "linux". Going forward, kernel bugs should now be reported against the "linux" package. I'm going to automatically retarget this bug against the "linux" package so that the appropriate developers are notified.

Would anyone care to confirm if this is still an issue with the latest Alpha for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 which contains a 2.6.26 based kernel. You can find more information regarding the latest Alpha at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing. If the issue still exists just curious if booting with "all_generic_ide" makes any different. Please let us know your results. Also, report will remain open against the actively developed kernel but since a patch/fix has not been isolated to backport to 2.6.20 and 2.6.22, those tasks will be closed for the time being. Once a fix can be determined it will be reviewed for consideration as a Stable Release Update - http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates. Thanks.

Hrm, since Dan is the original bug reporter and has commented this is resolved with 2.6.24 I'm going to mark this bug "Fix Released". For those of you still experiencing issues after having tested the 2.6.27 kernel, please open a new report as it's likely you have a slightly different bug. Jeffrey - I believe I've already followed up with you at your other report. Thanks.
