USB Mouse/Keyboard Randomly Freezes

Applies to Ubuntu 13.04 amd64. The bug has been present from release day, and is still there after 4 minor kernel versions.

This affects any standard USB mouse or keyboard (tested with several). The hardware sometimes stops responding just a few seconds after boot, while at times freezes only after 20-30 hours.

It is always reprodicible, since either the mouse or keyboard does stop responding, it is only a matter of time.

The logs show nothing out of the ordinary. If there is any additional info I should provide, please let me know.

This issue has followed me to 13.10. Finally, I managed to supress it (not fix it) by adding GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="noapic" to /etc/default/grub. I hope this helps somebody.

Robert Tari, thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Saucy reached EOL on July 17, 2014.
