Bug Description

Whenever I connect my Lenvo Thinkpad T510 to my Mini Dock Series 3 dock (Type 4337), the system shuts down cold. If it was in stand-by before, it is now turned off and I have to reboot the notebook. Disconnecting works fine.

This is a severe problem as I experience a potential data loss each time I connect the notebook as well as a time loss of course. I also want to stress, that I experience this phenomena only with one of my two docking stations. The other one works fine.

I did not find any log entry, which is related to the event.

Experienced on Ubuntu 13.04., but not with Windows 7 running on the same system.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.10 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

This happens to me on 14.04, even if the laptop is suspended when docked. I thought it had to be a hardware problem though, because I don't have windows available to try it.

I can demonstrate that this isn't a hardware problem by docking the laptop while powered on in the BIOS setup; there it docks just fine without shutting off.
