Bug Description
I was running ubuntu 12.10 successfully, but upgraded a couple of days ago to 13.04.
Immediately after upgrading, and on subsequent attempts to boot, the system would hard freeze during boot-up.
Debugging led me to observe kernel segfaults occurring, caused by the snd_hda_codec_hdmi kernel module.
I blacklisted this module in /etc/modprobe.d and then my system boots and works fine.
This seems to be a regression from the old 3.5.0-27-generic kernel to the current 3.8.0-19-generic kernel in 13.04, and is quite significant. (People without decent skills would not have been able to get the system to boot at all after an upgrade)
