constant clicking noises

whenever I boot this laptop I have a loud constant clicking sound regardless of speaker volume level and even during audio cd playing

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.14 kernel[0].
