Bug Description

I will have to add logs later, as the system might crash during try, again.
My AWUS036NHR detects some networks (more than my internal one, so I know it works).

Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0bda:817f Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188RU 802.11n WLAN Adapter

rtl8192cu 67699 0
rtlwifi 79673 1 rtl8192cu
rtl8192c_common 48779 1 rtl8192cu
mac80211 606411 4 rtlwifi,iwldvm,rtl8192c_common,rtl8192cu
cfg80211 510937 4 iwlwifi,mac80211,rtlwifi,iwldvm

I try to connect to an unencrypted network that is shown, but it fails according to kde-network-manager.
Sometimes the system hangs up or crashes wheyn trying to connect.

WORKAROUND: Unload:
rmmod iwlwifi iwldvm

Would it be possible for you to disable 11n to see if it works around this issue? It can be disable by setting:
options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1
in
/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf

Didn't try that.
But on Kernel 3.8.0.19 I can connect, but after 1-2 Minutes, no more data is being transmitted.
Now I have unloaded
rmmod iwlwifi iwldvm

And it seems to work. Now, how can I try to help the Ubuntu devs to fix the problem? Maybe I can giveaway 1 AWUS036NHR hoping somebody will fix this?

David.

David Baumann, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the mainline kernels archive directory daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc1

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

I am having issues with data rate falling and climimng back up. I use wavemon and no change in signal. Then I try the older model AWUS036NH, and I notice the behavior is greatly enhanced. I was thinking hardware problem, but I am not sure now after reading this bug. I can tell you this for sure. The behavior of AWUS036NH and the "NHR" is completely different. I am liking the "NH" veriosn better now. I have the Ubuntu 13.04 x64 version. I am not too knowlegable in programing.
