from what i understand , the cpu in the dell latitude d600 is an non pae cpu which 12.10 has an issue with. I ddid the upgrade on it because the wireless card it had would not work in 12.04 at all but would in 12.1o. i swapped out the wireless card and downgraded to 12.04 and all is good now.
