Can't install 12.04.2 on this machine. The installer kernel panics on boot. Unable to catch any logs since this happens during the initial boot sequence.

apport-collect 1144226

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

Hi Jeff,

Would it be possible to get a picture of the kernel panic? At least that would give some information and possibly enough to see the back end of the stack trace.

USB installer works without any problem. This issue only happens with network installation.

X55 uses an AR8161 which needs alx as its driver, and the module is not provided in initrd, so it hangs after unable to mount rootfs.

Set as won't fix as the system only fails when installing from network.
