Bug Description

This is the output of dmesg | grep bttv:

Oviously its fixed now from me adding an argument in /etc/modprobe.d/bttv.conf:

options bttv card=10 tuner=55

This is the original output of dmesg | grep bttv:

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.7 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Could someone make sure that I have the right kernal package. I'm running debian testing (linux mint) so I'd like to know what is the latest mantanance kernal for debian/ubuntu. I could also just build the latest stable development kernal. I don't think this is fixed though. It was working in 10.04 so if that helps! I was a very bad bug reporter and snuck it in as a patch... Just like to say sorry I'm much older and wiser now!!!

Anyway if anybody can help, much appreiated.

I am experiencing the same issue with an Avermedia card connected to my Ubuntu 12.04 machine. Everything is recognised except the tuner. dmesg shows the same bttv: 0: tuner absent message
Manually specifying the tuner with the tuner parameter when modprobing bttv does not help.
