Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.7 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

This looks very similar to a bug that was present on v490u and b490u, but is already fixed in the upstream kernel. We will need to more debugging/digging to figure out why this no longer works. This machine was enabled in Oneiric, so it sounds like this is a regression from Oneiric to Precise.

This bug was not present on enabled systems in Oneiric. If we can test Oneiric on these systems, it would be a good data point to have, to see if it was something that is a regression or a workaround on the iso that fixed it.

Jeff, could you please test 11.10 to see if this bug is present there?

Thanks!

Greg Vallande, as per http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page? an update is available for your BIOS (2.54). If you update to this, does it change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.
