You may need to run the following:

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

Then re-install the package.

If that does not resolve your issue, please mark the bug as "Confirmed"

Following the last recommendation to run apt-get install -f, apt-get clean, apt-get update and install the package again, I can confirm that it still doesn't work.

The machine on which the install is being attempted is an IBM Thinkpad T41.
