All builds are complete, packages in this bug can be copied to -proposed.

Derivative packages from packages here can be worked on, the following tracking bugs were opened for them:
linux-ti-omap4 - bug 1068731
linux-armadaxp - bug 1068733

It was not possible to create or handle the tracking bugs for the following packages (their tracking bugs based on this update must be handled manually):
linux-lts-quantal (precise)

I assume the dreaded ext4 data loss bug that's been floating around the interwebs today will invalidate this upload (and its rebases), given that I'm led to believe it was backported to 3.5.7, which this update includes.

Hrm, reading to the end of the thread, Ted now seems unsure of the cause. Still, if it WAS 3.5.7 that blew up the world, we might want to keep this update on ice for a bit while it's sorted out.

yes, I also think it's wise to wait to release this update until the ext4 issue is sorted out, and see what action we have to take, if any.

So far, the Ted is still unsure about the cause of the issue but it looks like it's only triggered with some quite uncommon (and, apparentely, unsafe) mount options. Here's a link to the latest update from Ted:

Regarding comment #4 (about the ext4 corruption bug), it is now clear that this is not a real issue for us. This bug seems to occur only on non-standard ext4 mounting options such as enabling checksums. These options, wich are actually not recommended (as a checksum mismatch is actually a problematic state), are not enabled by default in Ubuntu.

The Hardware Certification team won't test this kernel as we don't have (yet) a relevant pool of certified systems for quantal.
