Bug Description
I am using an LG P1 Express Dual Laptop, with an 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller. It has 3 jacks, 5.1 channel sound and no digital output, so the correct model should be 3stack-6ch (although i've treid all others as well).
The Problem is, that i do not have any sound coming from the laptop's internal speakers. Sound from the Headphones works fine.
I have already tried the following:
- Played with the sound settings in alsamixer. Depending on the model used in /etc/modprobe.
- Tried every model-setting that the alsa documentation listed for the ALC883 model. There is no entry there for the 82801G model and ALC883 is the soundcard that shows up in dmesg if an unknown model is specified
- Installed the latest alsa (1.0.14rc3 for base and drivers, 1.0.14rc2 for utils)
My guess is that there is a software switch that turns on the internal speakers. It appears that this switch is ignored by alsa.
Here are the required infos:

Hi!
It would seem that I have a similar problem with my LG M1 Express laptop. It apparently uses the same audio chip as the P1.
The sound works fine except for the fact that the speakers are never heard no matter what I do.
My laptop seems to be slightly different in configuration from the P1 express mentioned above, since I have one audio out jack on the rear, one line out/headphones + one mic input on the side and also an optical SPDIF output.
I have also tried most of the "model=xxx" settings with the snd-hda-intel that seemed applicable, but without success.
There is actually a setting - "model=lg" - that according to the docs should be for the LG M1 express, but it's for the ALC880-codec, and mine seems to be an ALC883, of a model which Alsa does not recognize. Perhaps LG has more than one hardware revision of the M1 laptop - if I recall correctly, earlier versions were based on Intel Core CPUs, my M1 has a Core 2 CPU.
I'm attaching a file containing the output of the various commands.
Thanks in advance, and please let me know if I can help you with some more information or anything.
Best Regards,
Lars
