Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1035109/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

not sure if by replying to this if it will post to the bug report if not email me back and ill post there. i also tried 12.04 and got the same issue but there might have still been some left overs of 12.10 i didn't do a complete erase of my dvd.

@bostongeek24,

Have you ever installed any prior version of Ubuntu on this machine? It would be good to know if this is a regression or not.

Can you try booting with the intremap=off kernel parameter and report back if it allows you to boot. If so, there's a high probability this is a duplicate of bug 1034459

I was having the same issue, and booted with the extra parameter. I can confirm that this worked just fine.
