Bug Description

Resume does notwork on this laptop:
Make/Model: Samsung NP305V5A-S06
CPU: AMD Quad-Core A6-3410MX Accelerated (1,6 GHz, 4 MB)
Video: AMD Radeon™ HD6540G2 Dual Graphics
VRAM: 1GB DDR3

Full spec. (it's on Russian, sorry): http://www.samsung.com/ru/consumer/computers-peripherals/notebooks/essential/NP305V5A-S06RU-spec

OS: Kubuntu 12.04.

The problem is very similar to the one in Bug #925646, but I'll repeat them here as well:

The desktop correctly goes to suspend, with fans silenced, audio turned off and screen output stopped. Neither the keyboard nor mouse (USB both of them) are able to wake the machine. On attempting to resume with a single short touch of the power button, the fans spin up to full speed and stay spinning at full speed, the power light comes on as expected, however the screen remains black. Moving the mouse or pressing keyboard keys does nothing.

Did the machine break while going to sleep or waking up?
- Waking up (resume)

Is it reproducible?
- Yes on 10 out of every 10 sleeps, it failed to resume

Did it work before?
- I've not tried any other distributions/versions of Linux n this laptop before. So, I can only say that it doesn't work in Kubuntu 12.04.

Do you end up with flashing Caps Lock light or similar?
- Don't have these indicators on my keyboard.

The computer does not reboot until forced by holding down the power button etc.

Not a duplicate of bug 999638 since that bug is with different HW.

Suspend to RAM does work with fgrlx driver. But still interested in using radeon.

By The way: is it Ok that FGRLX driver installs correctly (via Jockey), but another line "FGRLX after release updates" -- do not install itself and uninstalls previously installed FGRLX?

This isn't unique to Ubuntu, it's an upstream bug of the driver. Until the A-series chips are reverse engineered by X.org, it will remain.
