Tried to install latest ubuntu release and it fails with the following messages:
This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU:

Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.
Hardware is Asus EeePC 701 4G. Previous versions ran okay.

To me the whole point of Ubuntu was to be able to support old underpowered hardware and give it a new lease of life. If there is no fix for this then I will take it that Ubuntu is a defunct operating system and the spirit of Ubuntu has died.
Clearly the likes of Intel have got their hooks into the developers.
