Bug Description

This is a duplicate of bug #201197 reported for linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22.

In short: the driver for the "Multimedia eXtension Board" (MXB) was removed due to whatever reasons. The maintainer already agreed to bring it back it, but nothing happened, for over 3 months now.

Of course the driver is still missing for linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24, so I file this bug here again.

The fix is simple: just change two lines in the kernel's .config. Please, can somebody take care or tell me how to get this small fix done?

Can anybody please tell me to whom I should assign this bug so it's taken care of? I'm willing to provide the necessary patches, but unless somebody comments on this bug report I feel that nobody wants to take care.

Hi Michael,

It looks like this has been enabled for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release:

i386/config:3404:CONFIG_VIDEO_MXB=m

You should be able to test using the most recent Alpha release for Intrepid. More information can be found at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing .

As far as this being enabled for Hardy I'm not sure if it will qualify for a Stable Release Update - but I'll leave this to the discretion of the kernel team.

Also note that beginning with the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 development cycle the linux-ubuntu-modules package was actually merged with the linux kernel package. Going forward, bugs that would have been reported against linux-ubuntu-modules should now just be reported against linux. That is why I've opened the 'linux' task for this report. Thanks.

Changed in linux:
status: New → Fix Released
Changed in linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24:
assignee: nobody → ubuntu-kernel-team
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Triaged

Per a decision made by the Ubuntu Kernel Team, bugs will longer be assigned to the ubuntu-kernel-team in Launchpad as part of the bug triage process. The ubuntu-kernel-team is being unassigned from this bug report. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies for more information. Thanks.
