Bug Description

The iwlwifi team recently released version 1.0 of the iwlwifi driver for IPW3945 and IPW4965 wireless cards. A recent update included version 0.42 of the driver but 1.0 was released a couple of weeks later.

The current ucode for iwl3945 is 2.14.4
The current ucode for iwl4965 is 4.44.17

Thanks!

FWIW, I gave iwl3945 a try on my Thinkpad X60s with 3945 wireless. It works OK for a while on my wireless network (using WEP), but I see lots of

    iwl3945: REPLY_ADD_STA failed

in my kernel log, and then after a few hours the network dies and I see

    iwl3945: ipw going down
    Freeing alive inet6 address eaa13200
    iwl3945: ipw going down

at that point, trying to do "modprobe -r iwl3945" gets stuck with an endless stream of

unregister_netdevice: waiting for wlan0 to become free. Usage count = 1

Is this upstream? We could link a task there and get automatic updates.

This updates iwl3945 and iwl4965 to v1.0.0-1. However, the default gutsy driver is still iwp3945, not iwl3945.

So I think this is now fixed in gutsy as of linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-10-generic 2.6.22-10.23

Still seeing the same problem in linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-10-generic 2.6.22-10.30

This exact thing happens on every boot, and after this the adapter is dead and a reboot is needed to get it working again
