Bug Description

In the Lucid TI OMAP kernel, NetworkManager and wicd, as well as all command line tools such as iwlist, fail to work. This seems to be due to CONFIG_CFG80211_WEXT being disabled.

Example error from NetworkManager:
NetworkManager: <WARN> wireless_get_range(): (wlan0): couldn't get driver range information (95).
NetworkManager: <WARN> constructor(): (wlan0): Device unsupported, ignoring.

@ Dana Goyette,

The flag is already set in Maverick, please test with that kernel. If this works to your convenience the bug will be back ported to Lucid.

To install:

ubuntu@beagleboard:~$ sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.34-5-omap_2.6.34-5.12_armel.deb

Once extracted keep in mind to update the uImage and uInitrd before rebooting.

I can confirm: this does seem to be fixed in Maverick. Thanks!

Accepted linux-ti-omap into lucid-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!
