console switching does not work with ti-omap

Bug Description

running a d-i install i can switch consoles but the screen will stay on tty1, the same issue is seen on live images (indeed with tty7 on the screen instead of tty1)

I have seen this also with the netbook image. I can switch to another console and I lose input control on the console it previously displayed, but the display doesn't change. I can get control back by switching back to it again.
