I have a Toshiba Satellite M45-S265. I just install Ubuntu 7.10 and the sound does not work, at all. The first sound that brings the login page was working, but that was all. After I tried several fixing procedures, that does not work anymore. A couple of times, for no reason at all, the sound worked, but after I reboot the system, it disappear. I don't know what should I do. I am getting very frustrated. Any ideas?

One thing to check when running the newer Hardy release is that all sound levels are unmuted and turned up. Hardy has ALSA version 1.0.16 which mutes some sound levels by default. If the issue still persists, care to run the alsa-info.sh script described in the "Automatic Sound Information Collection" section of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems and attach the output to this bug report? Also note that we'll keep this open against the actively developed kernel bug against 2.6.22 this will be closed. Thanks. |
