Bug Description

After choosing my Ubuntu distro in Grub, the computer's screen goes black and hangs indefinitely. I am able to Ctrl+Alt+F1 and I get a text only display listing all the actions as Ubuntu now loads, but otherwise, I'm unable to boot to Ubuntu. I don't get a splash screen ever. I'm assuming that the readouts that I see go to a boot log and am more than happy to post it if someone could direct me how to find it.

I don't know if any of this information is useful, but I'd rather err on the side of more, rather than less, information:
Release 7.10
Kernel 2.6.22-14-generic
IBM Thinkpad R51 with Intel Pentium M Processor
ATI Radeon RV250 [Mobility FireGL 9000]

This is the entry in the Grub file for my Ubuntu:
title Ubuntu 7.10, kernel 2.6.22-14-generic
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic root=UUID=e420b413-49ab-47d1-ad0d-c361b2469f0c ro quiet splash
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.22-14-generic
quiet

If more information would help, just let me know. Thanks!

I've reinstalled Ubuntu Gutsy, from scratch. I formatted both my root partition and my home partition. The problem still persists. I'm going to try reinstalling Grub, but I don't think that's the issue. If that doesn't work, I'll install Edgy and if that boots properly, i'll upgrade from there. Please, throw me a bone or something here. I'm really desperate to get ubuntu working properly.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please try booting without the "quiet splash" option and report back your findings? In the event that the system hangs on booting please take a picture of the crash and attach it to your bug report. Thanks in advance.

Brain,

Thanks so much for the response. I ended up getting frustrated trying stuff, that i completely reinstalled 6.06 and upgraded from that version by version up to 7.10. It now boots just fine.
