I just upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04, and discovered my sound no longer worked. I installed linux-backports-modules-2.6.24-16.14 to try to fix it, but I am not sure that I needed to. It looks like I just needed to re-adjust the volume settings in Kmix (they must have been re-defaulted when I upgraded to 8.04). Sound is working again :)
