Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22

On my Asus M2400N Centrino Laptop it is not possible to boot Gutsy.
The nolapic option is needed.
The same thing happened in Feisty but was not resolved.
It all was fine in Breezy, Dapper and Edgy. Edgy was best concerning Suspend/Hibernate etc. But that's a different story. ;-)

This is a duplicate of this bug from Kernel 2.6.20 from Feisty.
See:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/83290
If you need any further info, just let me know. But it is exactly the same behavior as in Bug #83290

It would be really awesome if you could fix this for Gutsy since it's a major regression from Edgy and before.
A total show stopper for newbies also.
Good luck and keep up the great work. I appreciate it.

Michael

I can confirm what Michael wrote. I am using an M2400N 1.6 GHz Centrino and all previous versions have been working fine. I really hope this bug will be resolved.

Thanks

Hi.
I tested it with the daily build from today (July 18th) and booted it with the nolapic option.
Here you go.

If you need anything else just let me know.

I can confirm this bug. Im using an Asus M2400N 1,5 GHz Centrino. I've tested a few actual distributions with kernel 2.6.20 or 2.6.22 and they all have this bug ;-(

IMHO the cpu fan doesn't work when booting with the --nolapic workaround. Can anyone confirm this?

Greetings,
hellibombelli

I completely understand that this process may not be intuitive but the correct thing to do instead of opening a new bug report would be to indicate that the original bug also exists in linux-source-2.6.22. I have done this to the original bug report by clicking the "Also affects distribution" link. I then choose Ubuntu as the distribution and added that it affected package linux-source-2.6.22. I am going to mark this bug as a duplicate of that one. If you could please add your dmidecode information to the original bug report as that does not have anyone's dmidecode information that would be helpful.
