2.6.20-12 Bootup Freezes with modprobe error

As stated, bootup freezes immediately with no progress on the progress bar. When I change terminals and switch back to the bootup terminal, the error:

udevd-event[1975]: run_program: '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit

is printed to the screen. I idle in #launchpad on freenode as mark007, so will provide more information or run more tests if contacted there. 2.6.20-11 works just fine.

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this bug to the new "linux" package. However, development has already began for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release.
