Bug Description

Currently there seems to be no support for the LiveView FlyDVB Trio CardBus (DVB-S, DVB-T, analogue, video) card. The "big" desktop pc variant has been reported to be supported, but there is no information about this notebook card variant.

This plug-in card is able to receive DVB-S, DVB-T *and* to capture analogue tv signals (conventional terrestric TV, VHS etc.). Note that support for this multi-functional tv card might imho greatly enhance the respectability of Ubuntu when it comes to multimedia and consumer entertainment.

Forgot to post that *also* it supports analogue cable TV, too.

Hi,

We're currently in Beta Freeze for Hardy so only critical fixes will be pulled into the kernel at this point. I'm going to retarget this for the next release. Thanks.

Against 2.6.20 this will be closed as it does not qualify for a stable release update: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

Can you attach it to Hardy or do something else so that it will be considered for 8.10?

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

The 18 month support period for Feisty Fawn 7.04 has reached its end of life some months ago.
As a result, we are closing the linux-source-2.6.20 task.It would be helpful if you could test the
new Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release and confirm if this issue remains -
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes/904overview. If the issue still exists with the Jaunty
release, please update this report by changing the Status of the "linux (Ubuntu)"
task from "Incomplete" to "New". Also please be sure to run the command below
which will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this

Hello. I have a LifeView FlyDVB Trio and it works "out of the box" with the actual kernel (2.6.28-15-generic
) but only the DVB-T interface. To work with the DVB-S one I have a script like this:

--------------------
#!/bin/bash

sudo modprobe -r saa7134-alsa
sudo modprobe -r saa7134-dvb
sudo modprobe -r saa7134
sudo modprobe saa7134-dvb use_frontend=1

kaffeine
--------------------

To work with the DVB-T slot without restart I have the same script but "use_frontend=0". I have read that kaffeine has an interface to change between DVB-T and DVB-S but only for certain cards, is there a possibility for this card to work like that "out of the box"?

If you need me to do any test please, I'm ready. I have kaffeine 0.8.8.

Thanks.

I'm sorry, this post is for the notebook variant and my card is a PCI. May I open another bug?
