Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.20

Hi ,first of all this is reported earlier, concerning drivers to get different ACX100 wirelesscards to work .
This is maybe wrong way to question scripts, if so - im sorry ..

I have xubuntu ,( uname -a ) :
Linux 2.6.20.16-generic #2 SMP 'Date' i586 GNU/Linux

and gets this (in earlier bugs reported /included) 'errormessage' (*) on upstart :
( from dmesg log ) :
[ 143.449308] acx: found ACX100-based wireless network card at 0000:01:00.0, irq:11, phymem1:0x14010000, phymem2:0x14000000, mem1:0xc9902000, mem1_size:4096, mem2:0xc9a00000, mem2_size:65536
[ 143.450735] acx: loading firmware for acx100 chipset with radio ID 0D
[ 143.931206] acx: firmware image 'acx/default/tiacx100c0D' was not provided. Check your hotplug scripts
[ 144.285014] acx: loading radio image for radio 0D

later another driver loads correctly :
[ 144.824879] acx: === chipset TNETW1100A, radio type 0x0D (Maxim), form factor 0x01 ((mini-)PCI / CardBus), EEPROM version 0x05: uploaded firmware 'Rev 1.9.8.b'
[ 144.828526] acx v0.3.36: net device wlan0, driver compiled against wireless extensions 21 and Linux 2.6.20-16-generic
[ 144.834667] usbcore: registered new interface driver acx_usb
[ 145.101046] wlan0: changing radio power level to 18 dBm (23)

udev log shows this:
UEVENT[1190644329.179245] add /class/firmware/0000:01:00.0 (firmware)
ACTION=add
DEVPATH=/class/firmware/0000:01:00.0
SUBSYSTEM=firmware
SEQNUM=2255
FIRMWARE=acx/default/tiacx100c0D
TIMEOUT=10

The wireless pcmciacard is Topcom Skyracer 3044, and works w/o problem..

- My question: Is this 'errormessage' (*) caused by an editable udev script ?

Regards 0darn - again , sorry asking about hotplug scripterrors

Launchpad Janitor (janitor) wrote : This bug is now reported against the 'linux' package

Beginning with the Hardy Heron 8.04 development cycle, all open Ubuntu kernel bugs need to be reported against the "linux" kernel package. We are automatically migrating this bug to the new "linux" package. However, development has already began for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. It would be helpful if you could test the upcoming release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . If the issue still exists, please update this report by changing the Status of the "linux" task from "Incomplete" to "New". We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition. Thanks!

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4. Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced. You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the 2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26 kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.
