SMP kernel installed but only 1 core found (ubuntustudio)

I have installed UbuntuStudio off the text based installer DVD. Everything working brilliantly except that I have a smp kernel installed but only 1 core of my Q6600 QuadCore is being detected.

1) uname -a returns:

2) System Monitor only shows 1 core

3) wmsmpmon only shows 1 core
