Bug Description

I have a HP Pavillion dv2100 CTO Notebook. I am a new Linux user, and am working from a one day old Ubuntu install, fully updated and with only ndiswrapper installed additionally.

I have no sound coming from my speakers when I try to use the internet radio player that comes with Ubuntu, Rythmbox Music Player, or Sound Juicer CD Extractor with a music CD, which are the only programs I've tried that use sound. When I used the lspci command in the terminal, I got "Intel Corporation 82810G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)"

I figure it's a driver issue, as I had one with my wireless adapter as well.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please add the output requested in the Reporting Sound Bugs section of https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSoundProblems as separate attachments? Additionally, what release of Ubuntu do you happen to be running? Thanks in advance.

I'm running Feisty Fawn 7.05-i386 for desktop. I only included the single attachment, as two of the commands failed to work. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to make it so they do. Thank you for the prompt response.

Thank you for your additional information.
However, .odt file is not the ideal way to submit a bug attachment.
We request multiple seperate attachements as txt files.

sound works with new alsa drivers or an upgrade to Hardy Heron Alpha 3 will make sound work out of the box :)

Marking this "Fix Released" against Hardy's kernel package. Against 2.6.20 this will be closed as this does not qualify for a Stable Release Update - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates . Thanks.

Changed in linux:
status: New → Fix Released
Changed in linux-source-2.6.20:
status: Incomplete → Won't Fix
