unable to configure sound system - no sound

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

motherboard is asus m2v
amd 64 4000 socket 939 cpu
audio is onboard realtek alc660 six channel codec
Tried in feisty fawn no success also tried kubuntu kde desktop no success.
speakers are creative three speaker system.
tried using manual install as well as auto detect - without success
