[2.6.20-16.28 regression] AZX_MAX_CODECS causes the wrong codec to be chosen

Binary package hint: alsa-base

after I updated the kernel to 2.6.20-16 in ubuntu 7.04 my sound card doesnot function properly. I can hear sound from the right side speaker only on my acer Aspire 5100 laptop. and also my volume shortcut key doesnot work any more.

what can be the problem and whats the solution ???

what I have found is that the current driver which is loaded is of realtek ALC883 whereas I have a ATI SD450 sound card in the pervious kernel version

This can be worked around with probe_mask=8 model=3stack.
